Why I'm Running
Meet Bridget
I’m running because I believe Ward 5 deserves leadership that listens, shows up, and delivers real results.
Hi, I’m. Bridget!
This campaign is about making our city more affordable, more responsive, and more supportive of the people who call it home.
I’ve called DC home for nearly 20 years, and Ward 5 is a community I care deeply about. I’m running for City Council because too many things in our city cost too much and don’t work the way they should—and I believe we can do better.
I’m not a career politician. I’ve spent my career working behind the scenes on the systems that shape our daily lives—especially energy and infrastructure. Early in my career, I worked on some of DC’s first energy programs through the DC Sustainable Energy Utility, helping launch initiatives that reduced costs for residents and businesses across the city. That work helped save millions of dollars and made energy efficiency more accessible for everyday households.
But my path to this work started long before DC. I grew up in a working-class family in Fort Lauderdale, where my parents ran a small business and taught me the value of hard work, community, and showing up for others. Whether it was helping with local fundraisers or delivering newspapers across town, I learned early on what it means to be part of a community—and to take responsibility for it.
After college, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras, where I worked with communities to protect natural resources and support sustainable economic opportunities. That experience shaped how I think about problem-solving, partnership, and the importance of listening first.
Today, I work with decision-makers across the country to advance practical, cost-effective energy solutions. I’ve seen how good policy can lower costs and improve people’s lives—and how broken systems can do the opposite.
I’m running for Ward 5 City Council to bring that experience to our city—focused on lowering everyday costs, making sure city services actually work for families, and supporting the small businesses that keep our neighborhoods strong.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me exploring DC’s local music scene, reading, or spending time with my husband and our two rescue dogs.
